Hell, I'm an editor myself, and I wish my writers would put as much effort into their articles as they did in their blogs. The writing there is so much more alive and interesting.

This doesn't surprise me. In my freelance days I churned out a lot of copy for editors who needed stuff to wrap around the ads so that their publisher would quit freaking. I turned in good work, but it was seldom inspired because the subjects weren't.
When we blog, however, we're writing what we care about. And that, as they say, makes all the difference.
